Hey! Saw you lurking on another deviation and I noticed your sig- and I simply had to stop by. I want to study in NZ for the 2011 school year, but I'm having a difficult time choosing a program to go through. Do you have any recomendations? And about when did you start the process to study abroad; 6 months before the trip, a year? I'm very curious! Oh, and what university are you studying at?

And you play LOTRO! I'm on the Elendilmir server :)

Thanks for answering my nosy questions in advance XD

Oops, forgot to answer one question. I applied for my program 6 months before it began. It depends on when programs actually begin accepting applications, but they tend to be about one semester before you want to start. :)

I was actually tossing up between Arcadia and AustraLearn; I still am not sure which one I want to use XD My biggest concerns are probably university approval, student housing, and getting into classes.

Yea, when I mean that I want to study abroad in 2011, I meant come around January or whenever the program starts, and leave hopefully in December after staying around for break for a while XD No idea how I'd stay for a month longer than the school year, but I'm sure there's some way XD

Awesome! NZ is a great place to study abroad. Choosing a program can depend on your home university; sometimes they have to be approved first. Mine had a whole library of study abroad programs that were already approved, so I just picked the folder labeled "New Zealand" and went from there. I went with AustraLearn (which was great, they helped with everything from flights, class approvals, student visa, and a fun program introduction in Rotorua) but I've met other students who used Butler, Arcadia, and came without a program. If you want to do a year and are from the Northern Hemisphere, it can be a bit difficult to schedule. The school year in NZ goes from February to November or December, instead of August to May like the Northern Hemisphere. However, it is possible, depending on how many credit hours you have, or if you don't mind doing an extra semester at home. I'm at the University of Otago in Dunedin, and I love it! It took a while to get used to the different ways classes are taught, but it is a lot of fun here. And really, really pretty.

Ah, I'm on Nimrodel. I love LOTRO, but I'm not too good yet. ;)

If you have any more questions, feel free to drop me a message. :)

Thanks muchly for the fave on Arwen and Elanor. I enjoyed roaming your gallery - especially the NZ shots. I'm a kiwi in exile in deepest, darkest Britain and you made me feel homesick :)

Thank you! I'm sorry I made you homesick. NZ is absolutely GORGEOUS! Where did you live?
:iconkiwidoc:
I'ved all over the place - auckland, Wellington, Timaru, Whangarei and Greymouth: One end of the country to the other!

Don't feel sorry for the homesickness ... it was a nice kinda homesickness.
